Lacoste Is Ready To Slay The Streets With Its Customizable Unisexy Sneaker

Cotton polo tees, alligator logos and perfume ads that bear bold capitalized letters are all it takes to recognize a Lacoste from a mile away. Known for its preppy meets sporty aesthetic, the French brand does the unthinkable: launch a sneaker.

Dubbed the “WildCard”, Lacoste’s fresh new kicks offer a street-friendly version of the old school tennis sneaker. Made with leather and mesh, the WildCard sneakers have a low platform that makes it easily wearable to walk whether you’re at the tennis court or the sidewalks at Orchard. Although it’s marketed towards men, it can be worn by us, too. Compared to its past sneaker designs, Lacoste gives us the option to customize it however we want!

In honor of its drop, Lacoste has thrown a party last Friday at Orchard Central. Featuring local acts such as Tabitha Nauser, a Singapore-based singer, and Dharni, a Poland-based beatboxer, this party was a night that I could never forget.

Catch a glimpse of the launch party here:

Man Crush Monday: Nick Wehrli

A couple of summers ago in Los Angeles, I was just an unpaid intern at a small music startup. Comprised of like-minded music geeks, my boss, colleagues and I would often attend concerts, drink and dance our butts off. At almost every concert we attended, a beautiful bleached blonde surfer dude always popped up everywhere we went. Charmed by his beauty, it was hard for me to not resist looking at him. When he introduced himself as Nick Wehrli, little did I know that he was also a fellow intern.

Outside from our internship, I couldn’t shake off the memories of listening to old Blink-182 hits and NBF in his car alongside with other colleagues. If there was one thing that Nick couldn’t be separated with, it’s his trusty digital camera. Years after our internship ended, he moved to Bali, picked up a new language skill (seriously, who doesn’t love a man that can speak Bahasa?!) and as of now, he’s currently trotting around the globe as a photographer.

The luscious Libra and I catch up over e-mail to talk about his passion for photography, the biggest culture shock he’s ever experienced, what it means to live the Instagram dream, why he’s cool with being Instagram official (SPOILER ALERT: he ain’t single!) and the one country where he never wants to leave.

Is This Influencer-Loved Activewear Set Worth The IG Hype?

Activewear brands come and go just like how we often tend to clear out our closets whenever we’re bored. Even as under the radar companies are constantly challenged to break the market, what’s more important is how they aim to boot up the game. Rather than me reviewing a new brand, it’s time for me to rekindle with a familiar face I reviewed a year and a quarter ago.

Rather than going by Touché LA, it’s rebranded itself LA Collective, an activewear umbrella that represents 3 brands: TLA by Morgan Stewart, Ren Active (whom they collaborated with model Alexis Ren) and Vita LA. Launched last year, Vita LA’s brought out an array of fun prints (e.g. tie dye), unconventional details (e.g. aged denim) and a range of colors that make you think of sorbets at the ice cream shop. Backed by 37K Instagram followers and a handful of sold out listings, it’s no wonder that this under the radar cult activewear brand is already on its way to knock the big dogs down.

Jaynee got in touch with me again to send me a new pastel rose denim-inspired set that consisted of leggings, tank top and sports bra. The moment I woke up, I was more than excited to review it! While it’s easy for me to be let down by the amount of hype than quality in today’s activewear, is this new set from VITA LA worth the Instagram hype?

Man Crush Monday: Joseph Angelo

It was a balmy Saturday night in early February and as much as I want to dislike rainy season, the cool wind was ready to calm my nerves. Standing alone at a rooftop bar, I wasn’t so sure who to talk to as I don’t like to talk to strangers when I’m alone (even though I’m an extrovert). From the corner of my eye, I spied a tanned and tall hunk with shoulder-grazing ombré hair held a drink in hand. Dressed in a black dress shirt with matching jeans, he wore silver rings alongside a delicate thin chain around his neck. Breaking into a friendly smile, he introduced himself to me. The moment our eyes met, I felt the mojo of a rockstar, the charisma of a politician and the aura of actor. If you believe that he is Aquaman, don’t be distracted. In fact, this 25-year-old Jason Momoa doppelgänger is no other than Joseph Angelo, a Bangkok-based Phukhet-bred actor.

The virtuous Virgo and I chat about fitting into gender conventions, why it’s cool to be inspired by women and if horoscopes make up character traits.
